If those three sources disagree, slow down before you pay or share personal data.
1. Pull Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. Get the official files at AnnualCreditReport.com. Search for LVNV, Resurgent, the original creditor, and any other collector named in your letters. Write down balances, dates, and account numbers as they appear on each bureau.
2. Compare the report to the letter. An LVNV Funding collection should line up with a debt you recognize — or it should be challenged. Check the original creditor, the amount, the date of first delinquency, and whether you already paid or settled it with someone else. Sold debts are a common place for incomplete or mismatched details.
3. If you want the debt validated, write the collector that contacted you. Use the address on the collection letter. Ask them to validate the debt and keep a copy of what you send. The FDCPA sets rules for collectors, including how they should handle a timely written validation request. That is educational, not a promise that the collection will be deleted.
4. Dispute errors with the bureaus for free. Under the FCRA, you can dispute information that is inaccurate, incomplete, unverified, or not responded to in time. File with each bureau that reports the LVNV Funding collection. Keep confirmations. If the furnisher verifies the item as accurate, it can stay. If they cannot verify it, or they miss the investigation window, the bureaus can take it off. Outcomes depend on the file, not on a slogan.
5. Treat pay-for-delete as optional. Some people ask whether payment will come with deletion. Collectors do not have to agree. Get any such offer in writing before you pay, and still understand that paying does not automatically delete an LVNV collection. The line may update to paid or settled and remain for about seven years.
6. A goodwill request is also optional. Asking for a courtesy deletion after a pay or settle is a request — like a goodwill letter. It is not required and it is not guaranteed.
7. Do not confuse “sold” with “gone.” When the original creditor sells a charged-off account to LVNV Funding, you generally owe the new owner, not the old one, for that balance. The original charge-off and the LVNV collection can both report. Cleaning one error does not automatically clean the other.
Miami Credit Repair challenges collections — including LVNV Funding collections — when they are inaccurate, incomplete, unverified, or ignored past the investigation period. We do not invent collector phone numbers. We do not promise that paying Resurgent or LVNV will wipe the tradeline. We do not guarantee score gains.
You can handle bureau disputes yourself at no charge. A report review is only useful if you want another person to help sort which lines look challengeable.
Why do I see LVNV Funding and Resurgent on the same debt? LVNV Funding buys charged-off accounts and, per its site, outsources management to Resurgent Capital Services. Related names can appear on letters and reports. Match the original creditor and dates before you treat them as separate debts.
Who should I call about an LVNV account? Start with the phone and address on your collection letter and credit report. LVNV’s site says to direct inquiries to Resurgent and points you there from lvnvfunding.com. Skip random numbers posted on other websites.
If I pay the LVNV Funding collection, will it be removed? No, not automatically. Payment may change the status to paid or settled. The collection can still report. Pay-for-delete is optional and not guaranteed.
If LVNV Funding is on your reports and you want a review of what looks inaccurate, incomplete, or unverified, send the reports and a message. We will look at the lines — not sell you a guaranteed deletion.
